About

Grounded Travel is a website dedicated to overland, flightless travel information. The site contains detailed information, regularly updated by dedicated volunteers, on overland routes and journeys throughout the world by rail, road and sea.

The site was created to provide an easy way for people to discover how easy it is to get around without flying. Its creators are great believers in travelling overland, rather than by plane, not only due to the environmental benefits but also the benefits it brings to the whole travelling experience.

Grounded Travel was originally launched in 2008 by Ed and Helen, who both live in London, UK. Both believe that there are common misconceptions relating to the difficulty and time associated with flightless travel, and hope that Grounded Travel will assist with the promotion of overland travel not only as a sustainable alternative, but also a more enjoyable way to experience the journey as well as the destination.

We are not a travel agent, nor do we sell any tickets directly. We just point you in the right direction so that you find travelling overland just that little bit easier. Saying that, all the invormation provided on this site is used at your own discretion; from time to time routes are lost, or better ones are created, and sometimes it may take us a while for the information to be updated this end. If you do spot anything that you know is incorrect, please do leave a comment on a page, or contact us.

Thanks for visiting our site; we wish you the very best for any future overland journey!
