Sacramento is a large city in the US state of Californaia, located on the Sacramento and American Rivers. The city acted as a major distribution hub during the gold rush. Today, it is home to California State University and the UC Davis Medical Center.

Amtrak provides a variety of rail services to/from Sacramento Valley Rail Station, which also acts as the terminus of the Regional Transit light rail network. 

How to get to Sacramento from
Route 1:

The California Zephyr is an Amtrak service running between Chicago and San Francisco. The route covers a total distance of 3,924km, and passes through seven states on its journey. It is well known for being one of the most scenic long distance routes operated by Amtrak. The two day journey is best enjoyed in a roomette or bedroom, but for budget-conscious travellers, a reclining seat can be just as comfortable.
