UK's High Speed 2 Gets the Go-Ahead

Plans for the UK's second high-speed rail route has been approved by the Government.

The approval has met with reactions, as opponents of the scheme continue to voice their concerns about potential adverse impacts and limited spread of benefits.

Either way, the new scheme will bring the UK closer to it's European rivals in terms of high-speed rail capability, and hopefully should assist in the spread of wealth further north from London.
